Do any of you guys have a scissors lift in your garage? They look like they would be a great addition to the garage. I found this one on the internet. Does anybody have any experience with this company? Thanks for any input. Craig
when they say it's for light mechanical work, they really mean it. The problem with those lifts is the lift itself gets in your way too much to do anything serious on the car. fluid changes, tire removal, maybe brake jobs is about all you can get away with.
That made me laugh when i saw the last one said "technicans dream", we have one exactly like that at work; it's only good for alignments. Anything else theres just WAY too much lift in your way. It's kind of neat because it has a sublift where you can raise the car off the lift to get to the tires....but its a real pain, as apposed to just putting it on a regular lift.
It seems to me that the scissors lift will only be good for light work like changing tires and oil changes. As said before with that much lift in the center you can't do anything serious under the car. If you are limited by ceiling height or space around the car (like I am) you might think of going with a Kwik Lift drive on lift. There was a post in the last few days about this and for tight spaces it seems to be the best compromise for lifting height and safety. With the bridge in place you can do just about anything on the front or rear end and it looks like you get about 30 inches of lift out of it. JMO.
The 6000 looks like it will be in the way - but the 7000 model looks to be useful.
I think Juliet (on the board) has one like the 7000. She seemed to like it.
