What's the best way to get a water neck to seal to an aluminum intake w/o leaking!? I think the surface on the intake may be a little warped (the water neck will wobble just a little when set on the intake). What can I do to keep it from leaking? :cry
Of coarse use a new gasket. Then use permatex #2 soft set sealer on both sides of the gasket. Make sure you have the T-stat seated properly in the grove in the intake. Sometimes you have to scrape away all the gunk that builds up in the grove so the T-stat can sit flush in there. If its not flush and even with the surface, it may not let the housing sit square.

Re: Water neck question... (Jvette73)
I've used gascacinch sucessfully in the last few years. actually since joining the forum. You might try that in conjunction with the permatex considering the uneven surface. If it's that uneven, you might want to grind down the high spot---having never done that I don't know if you can. :chevy
All the above is good advise. In addition I would check the goose neck sealing surface for flatness. If it has been used many times it will probably be warped from being over torqued.

i've switched to cast iron water necks. They don't warp/bend/rot. and they can be had with a hole for a temp sensor if desired, and some have a place for a throttle spring.
I bought a Moroso waterneck with a radiatorcap on top. That way i can air out the system nicesly by having a hose running from it to the canister..Total airfree cooling system

Thought about getting one of those, does that one have a temp sending unit tap in it? Wasn't sure if it would clear the air cleaner.
