I REALLY want a TrailBlazer SS. There's a good chance it'll go into production soon. Problem is I may have to sell the Vette (and my Grand Prix) to get it. Someone convince me I'm crazy...please.

I read your sig, and by the description of your Vette, I'd dumpit and go for the SS. Just kidding, that SS will be cool for a few tears, maybe, and then the regret will set in. LOL either way Pat :yesnod:
Re: I'm Lusting After This Vehicle...HELP! (nastee383)
Think about depreciation......what's a new SS going to be worth after you drive it off the lot???? You'll lose 10%.......Unless you're self employed and can soak up depreciation through your business, then buying a new car is a mugs game...
Hang onto the Vette.....it's not going to devalue.........
Just realize that any desire you may have to purchase a new vehicle is the result of millions of dollars of cleverly spend advertising dollars. It's all about getting you to want something you don't want, don't need, and is pretty worthless if you look at it objectively! :) There, did that help? :) MJ

Or your father works for GM and you want a new truck that you know the histroy of and have a warranty for at least 36,000 miles. That being said I did not sell my vette to get it, what are you  ! :jester
Re: I'm Lusting After This Vehicle...HELP! (nastee383)
Looks like every other "Me Too" generic SUV on the road today. Imagine a pimple faced, chubby nerd jumping in the air and waving his arms, yelling "Look at me, Look at me..." as people quickly cross to the other side of the street to avoid getting near the nerd... That was my first impression when I looked at a couple of web pages featuring Trailblazer SS.
Sorry, not a supporter here, not sure what you expected coming to a Corvette Forum? I too drive a SUV, full sized Suburban, sometimes I just try to think of it as a really BIG split window coupe. But it ain't a Corvette and will never take the place of one, either.
But, its your money, you decide. Might want to listen to the advice of some of us who have made the same mistake, unless you have a special karma and are somehow exempt from the normal "gotta have it/then regret it" cycle of auto ownership.

:iagree:
And more like 25% per year. Just think, if that puppy goes for 30K (conservative estimate I think) you'll be paying $7500 per year ($625 per month!) in depreciation alone, for the first year, not to mention your insurance will be higher. Also if you plan to finance it, add the interest in.
The next year will be another $5625 in depreciation.
Is your Vette costing you anywhere near that much?
Re: I'm Lusting After This Vehicle...HELP! (nastee383)
i wonder what engine plans they have for the trailblazer ss. I have to drive trailblazers all the time cause i'm a gm tech and let me tell you...those things are SLOW.
And thats coming from a guy who drives an 84 buick for a daily driver.
SS dosnt really mean what it used to anyway. An monte carlo ss? yeah, theres a zoomer. all 3.8 liters just for me? ooo....fwd too, man chevy sure does spoil people....
I still get a laugh when someone drives in the shop in a mont ss with nascar stickers all over it. Yeah buddy, you're a nascar driver. Then they always tell me to be extra careful with it. I'm kind of an a-hole, so i always ask them why i should be careful with it. "cause, its a monte ss man, its a nice car"

Lust is short-term, love can last a long time. I have read the description of your Corvette and a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into it I imagine. Plunking down $x thousands for a new vehicle is very easy but the novelty can wear off very quickly. A Corvette can capture your heart and emotions for a very long time. Unless you have lost that feeling for your Vette, I would keep it.

What's up with you? Seems like all you guys just disappeared after the POWER TOUR. Speaking of which, that is one of the major highlights of my gearhead life. I see why you have done it multiple times. If you see any of those other guys, tell them hi for me. AND I think I'm beginning to see the light with all these responses. If I get rid of any of my vehicles it won't be the Vette. If you get that '65 you've got to "long haul" it!
Burnouts for everyone!!!
