im guessing i need to remove the valves and springs, how do i do that and also whats the average cost to get them hot tanked ????

It sounds like your best bet would be to have a reputable machine shop dissasemble, hot tank and advise you on what work needs to be done. Striping the heads just to clean them would be of little importance without freshing the parts and machining the seats etc....
