Default A/C orifice on 1980

I have replaced my compressor, main hose and took off my old accum/dryer that new one should be coming any day now.....but thought that I would see the orifice when removing one of those components

I did order a new one, so where does that go ???

If it is like my 79 it goes inside the tubing that runs vertically in front of the evaporator box. There is a fitting right there in front of the evaporator, take it apart, remove the old orifice and shove the new one in. If you have problems getting the old one out people have used a 3" or 4" drywall crew to get a bite on it. Just dont screw in so far that it binds the orifice against the tube wall so tight that it wont come out.

Hi Pat - I found it and removed it, but being such a bonehead, I forgot which side goes in first, is it the long or short side that goes down into the pipe???
