Hi, any help would be appreciated, I have a 79' L82, with Eldebrock Carb and manifold (car is far from mint!,but, a strong runner! :) ), I drove it from my carport to lawn and let it run for about 10 minutes (sounded and ran fine) then went to tak'er for a ride(about an hour later) and it wouldn't start...then discovered there is no fuel going into the carb, while manually actuating the throttle...is it common for a fuel pump to die with no warning  or could even a clogged fuel filter do this...I definetly have gas in the car (over half a tank)...got to late and dark to check anything else...any help or suggestions or ideas would be appreciated!...thanks for your time... :chevy
you might want to verify that fuel is even getting to the pump. I had acar with a partial clog either in the tank outlet or the fuel line between the pump and the tank that would cause fuel starvation.
1. Pull the fuel inlet to the carb and check the filters. Pull them out wipe the gas off and lightly blow through them and get air through. Should be pretty easy to do this. Otherwise they are plugged. They really would have to be plugged to stop all fuel.
2. With the fuel line still off and the DIST. - COIL DISCONNECTED, the fuel pump should pump about a pint into a bottle in 30 seconds. Crank the engine and see what kind of output you are getting. This assumes you still have the mechanical pump on the block.
Take it from there. Remeber no spark during cranking!
Thanks guys...I should hopefully know the answer by tomorrow, I'll post my findings on here and maybe it may help someone else too...thanks again, hope your cars are all running sweet! :steering:
