Well for the longest time I was unable to turn my key to lock and remove it. It all started about a month ago when I attempted to start my car but could not get the key to turn. Being about 1000 miles from home I forced it to turn. After forcing the key to turn I lost my radio, wipers, and ac. Last Tuesday I attempted to force it to lock but gave up not wanting to hurt it any further. Tonight I took it for a ride and when I got home the key turn to lock very easy. I turned it to accessory and the radio, wipers, and ac started working. They will not work in run? Oh, when I forced the key to turn on the car about a month ago I lost the spring action return from start but not its back?
I’m guessing it’s the ignition box on the column. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: HELP ignition problem? (Michael Tucker)
Hi Mike!!
Just drop your steering column down by pulling the 3ea 9/16" head nuts that hold it up. Once it drops, you will have access to the ignition switch that is bolted to the top of the column. It's held in place with 2ea 5/16" head hex screws. Pull it off, and you can stick a screwdriver in the slotted "slider" that makes the switch go to its different positions. Manually move the switch from one position to the next and see if it works. If things work, you just need to install it back on the column and adjust it properly (it slides up and down the column for adjustment). If it doesn't work with the screwdriver, the switch needs to be replaced.
