Last week I posted a thread saying that my engine won't turn over because it sat for a year. I did yank the engine out of the car and I attempted to turn it over by hand after removing the harmonic balancer and then by using a breaker bar and it didn't budge. I broke the tool used to turn the engine with a breaker bar. I then removed the flexplate, put long bolts at the end of the crankshaft and took a prybar and turned it. I managed to get it to turn over but it didnt turn over a full 360 degrees. I could hear the counterweight come in contact with the oil pan bottom when I turned it in one direction and then the other. I then noticed that my oil pan was dented at the bottom and there is a crease in the corner of the pan. I took off the pan and the engine turned freely.
Are corvette oil pans different from other SB chevy oil pans? If not where can I get a reasonably priced pan. I saw a chrome pan by Spectre for $49.
However I think it would look too cheesy and it will get messy when I change the oil.

I'm glad it was something as simple as the oil pan. I do believe that the pan is different, but I couldnt say exactly where - I assume its difference lies primarily at the front of the sump. Odd that it wouldnt turn at all - then you managed to get it to turn -
I might still reccomend that while you are in there - pull the main and rod caps and relube with a good moly based assembly lube - as opposed to white lithium. However it sounds better than your original post did.
