I'm sure that all of us have seen the carb spacers advertised in the catalogs especially Summit and Jegs. They boast of horse power gains and I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with them. I was looking at the 1/2" or the 1" spacer made by Horton for a holley 4150, have to watch the hood clearance. And which one would you get for that carb?, the open style or the one with the four holes to be used with the Winters aluminum high rise manifold :flag

It really depends on the motor. I have read tests where spacer worked well and others where the eng actual lost power. Only one way to find out, dyno with and without but that costs $.

I use a 1/2 inch spacer on my setup... and it helps performance because of added ram effect.... Well - a 1/2 inch spacer isn't all that big.. Unfortuately - that was the biggest spacer that I could use in order to clear the hood...

Mine works great......It also cools the gas down and acts kinda like a mini tunnel ram......I also needed it for my Demon Carb to clear the vacum ports .

I use a 1" 4 hole spacer on a dual plane to get my carb up to the airbox. Can't prove it, but it feels like it picked up some grunt, and I know it improved throttle response. :smash:

:iagree: Using a "Swirl Torque" spacer bought from Summit.
I found the quality a bit poor though. I had to file both surfaces flat because ..they weren't. Also had to drill two of the bolt holes oversize so it would fit the studs.
Generally speaking, the open spacers may help high rpm's and the 4 hole spacers may help the lower rpm's.
