Here are some organizations that are available for those that might need them or be considering becomming a quitter. They've all got web sites. :D

Re: **** (Avette4me)
Congrats Avette4me.
My wife quit cold turkey too. It was tuff on her. She slipped one time in the beginning and I busted her. She has been quit now for over 5 and like most who do quit smoking can't stand the smell anymore.
Thanks! I agree with the smell part. Had to stay in a smoking room on my last journey - all of my stuff and myself just reeked. The wife noticed as soon as I walked in.
I am very glad I did and, while I won't preach to smokers, I recommend it to anyone.
 I quit a little over 7 months ago, chewed the gum for a while and quit that in Feb-Mar. I still have an occasional craving but it has gotten A LOT easier to go for whole days without even thinking about cigs.
I thougth a *** was something completeely different to you guys on that side of the pond! :lolg: Well done for quitting though, I did cold turkey a long time ago now. Look at the money you are saving for all those vette add ons  And you will be alive longer to appreciate them  And if you will excuse me I will now climb down from my soap box
:cry :cry
I quit all the time. What I need is the wife to quit, too.
The only good thing is that I am at less than a pack a week, now.
I could go cold turkey no problem - but not when I come home to it every night.
:cry :cry

Normally that isn't the correct term here. I was planning to stir the pot in off topic with that title. :blueangel: They really get on there soap boxes in that section at times and I laugh at some of the flame jobs.
I planned to title it Cigs here, so I didn't make anyone in the friendly forum mad.
July 7th will be 4 years since I quit. I quit cold turkey. I was lighting a camp fire one evening and grabbed for a smoke, then decided I was quitting, threw the pack in the fire and never looked back. :yesnod: Of course, I had quit a few dozen times before that, but to really quit you have to just put your mind to it. When you really decide to quit it's a different feeling that when you half heartedly do it. My son was almost a year old, my daughter not yet born but planned, so I decided it was time to hang up the smokes.
I'm also a quitter, 3 years in Aug. I can't beleive how much I notice the odor on people who smoke, I must have smelled the same way all of those years to non smokers. I now have a justified reason to buy lottery tickets every week. It's cheaper than cigs and instead of chancing lung cancer I'm chancing being a millionaire!
Personally, I've never put a *** in my mouth (or anywhere else for that matter) but I applaud anyone who can resist the temptation to suck on one... :jester
I quit in May 1976 when my new 1976 Buckskin Corvette arrived. I really needed an outside insentive to quit. So I promised myself no ashes or cigarette smoke in a new Corvette. The car came in and I gave away what was left of my pack of Winstons and haven't looked back.
