as some of you know, i have twisted my half shafts at the dragstrip this last week, along with snaping a u-joint and hub flange. my question is, should i buy stock replacments. heres what im thinking, if i buy hevy duty half shafts, and i put down enough torqe, what else could brake. my rear end, or strip the splines off the spindle, etc..... so does it make sense to replace my half shafts with stock replaements just so i dont damage other parts, or could thoses other parts ever really be messed up by getting heavy duty half shafts. what do you guys think?
Well, Up to you really bud... Depends on what level you want your car at.
I'd look at it as a sign from god that it is time for you to get that rearend you've always wanted. Maybe get some nice stock ones, or if you can find a deal on a good set of aftermarkets, than maybe thats the way to go.
Just my opinion: solid axle. I don't believe the stock Vette rear suspension was ever intended for the drag strip. It's fine up to a point, then horsepower and torque wins.
