Anybody have a small lathe 10x20 or somewhere in the neighborhood? Is it useful for use on the Corvette? What brand is it?
I am thinking about getting one and am looking at a unit from Harbour Freight. Anyone have any comments on HF lathes?

I have a small Craftsman/Atlas lathe that was built sometime in the 70's. Its ok but the powerfeed sucks. I use it all the time making stuff for my vette but then again I am modifiying just about everything you can imagine. I've looked at the harbor freight lathes and the jury is still out. I only piad $350 for the lathe I have now. You may want to check and find used machine equipement dealers, you can probably get a higher quaulity used lathe for the same price as the HF lathe your looking at.

Stay away from the import junk. Check around to get a decent South Bend 13" lathe. I use a 10K and it's ok except that I can't fit a spindle and rotor in it to true them. Check auctions or machine dealers, with the amount of machine shops closing around the East coast, you'll find one.
