AR 383 Arrived Yesterday!
MJ & Others: Yep, it's going to be lots of fun! I need to get that bag off and drop her in. Only problem is that I *INTEND* to clean up the engine compartment and a few other things before hand, but I'm so excited I don't want to wait!

You still need the short water pump.
EDIT: You had some questions about pulleys since you said the balancer looked bigger. It may be bigger diameter, but the mounting location for the front pulley should be the same distance from the front of the block as your old engine. I think all balancers have the same width, but may vary from 6 1/2 to 8 inches in diameter.

I'll be tearing down and repairing one of their engines in a few weeks. I may be posting some results based on what I find.
I got specific instructions with my engine what I could to with it and what not.. They told me where to set the rev limiter and NOT to run Nitrous because the engine wasn't built for nitrous. I drove over 8000 miles with the engine and made over 40 Drag Strip passes with it.. and mine still runs as good as on the first day...
LARS - Wow, I too would like to know what happened to the AR motor you have.

It's also critical that the engines are operated the way they were meant to be operated.. Timing, rev limiter setup etc...

Any particular brand flexplate? I think I need to get an externally balanced 400 168 tooth flexplate... SFI

Plan on a couple of miseries making the transition to the new engine. Ten bucks says a *vette* waterpump will not give you the correct spacing with the AR aftermarket harmonic balancer you have when you put the pulleys on. They offer high performance engines... not vette specific engines.
By the way.... take the time to get the numbers off of the back of the block to see what year you have. It might help with other parts you might need. AR put together a 355 for me with a '72 Z-28 block and there are a few differences between it and the stock '74 vette block as to where the oil pressure sensor & water temp sensor now fit.
