Default Barn Find / 1972

New to the C3 forum here. I have been in the C5 lately but after today I will be hanging out in the C3 section a whole lot more. I will probablly be asking you shark gurus a lot of questions in the future so please be patient with me. Today I purchased a 72 # matching 350 c.i coupe. It has sidepipes and Crager mags. The Vette has 55,000 original miles and has been setting in a barn for the past 10 years. Prior to the last owner, the car sat another 8 years so apparantely all the miles were put on 18 years ago or earlier. Anyway, the woman who I am purchasing from is married to a truck mechanic who kept the car in shape and started occasionally and changed the oil and fluids from time to time. They also took it for an occasional ride to keep everything lubricated The frame is in great shape, the interior is almost perfect. The paint is average and not the original color. The car is now black, however, I would like to bring back to the original blue. Not sure which blue it was, as I was so excited, I forgot to check the trim code number. I plan on getting the car clean, and then pick everyones brain to try to determine how far I want to take this car into restoration. Right now, I am leaning to a total strip of the black paint and getting a factory correct color paint restoration job done this winter. I may however see what I can do with the black paint as far as touching up the defects, wet sanding and 3M buffing. My wife loves a black shark, she is leaning towards having the car stripped and painted black again. I on the other hand, do not want to invest all the time and money into a paint job and not make it the correct color. Since I married a real motor head girl, and she has been great, I am going to see if I can tweak the black paint that is now on the car. I doubt it, but it will be fun trying. Anyway, I am so excited I can't sleep so I just wanted to introduce myself to the C3 section and say hello. Thanks for listening to me.
Bob
Oh, Almost forgot, the only original part missing from the vette is the air cleaner cover. I will have fun at Carlisle tracking one down. :D

A quick search says your available blue colors for the '72 were Bryar Blue & Targa Blue. Sounds like a great find.

Can we spend your money now or do you need a week?

We need pictures. Pictures of a Corvette discovered in a barn are priceless.

Like this one I found a year and half ago.

The car had not been moved in ten years. They wanted $15,000 and I offered $10,000. She sold the next day for 13,500.
