Where i am from in the bush almost everyone does it. I've seen too many accidents. Alot of people do it and do it safely but its a matter of time. Next winter the law comes in that if you get caught in MB: your car is confiscated, done finished. I never risk losing my car, even my daily driver. And imagine no license.... wouldn't you want to :banghead:
Norval is right.
Don't type- wasn't clear.
This topic sure got hijacked- the subject is spinning the Vette- not drinking.
We were at a car show some time ago & had maybe a couple there- not even enough to talk about- much less for some slanderous pc tantrum to try to ruin the topic. marck should apologize.

Back to the topic.
So far only GKull & I have spun a Vette at speed.
I agree, Marck should apologize. The reason I am saying this is because Marck did the same to me one time. Turned the thread into slander and went ran to all his buddies on another forum and told them to do the same. Chicken chit action if you ask me...
As for drinking and driving I too am totally against that and it ticks me off just as much as people calling other people names for little to no reason.
damn Ganey, spinning at 100 - when can I get a ride. Do they stock Depends in your neighbourhood, not for me mind you, just enquiring minds. Can we dress your vette up with them big Texas steerhorns on front and drag an empty six pack in the rear gotta hook em 'n spark em.
"Drinking... Driving... Driving... Drinking... Nothing wrong with it just to shoot many of you doing it at the same time."
Back to the topic, just thought I would ad this.
Oh, almost forgot the point. I have spun on the racetrack too at about 70-80. Wrecked mine (actually not mine, I was asked to demo it while it was for sale) and 4 other cars. Most fun I ever had without a woman there. :smash:
Just to clarify it wasn't in a vette. frame/body was a 77 caprice.

hey, i've done something similar. but it was on a track, well, technically off the track. actually done it many times.
i think i've got you beat though. my shark has gotten air. i mean AIR!
<----measuring altitude here. went off at 'magic mountain' (i refer to it as space mountain) at buttonwillow, probably doing about 50+, all four wheels spinning free. somewhere in the neighborhood of 18-24" at the highest point. broke the front air dam, witness results in sig pic below. gee, now that i think about that, it really couldn't have been good on the u-joints! :bb :jester
Ganey - While Marck may have reacted a little violently, I understand the nature of his reaction. Quite a few people here misinterpreted what you said, myself included. Perhaps he was quick on the draw, but I wouldn't try to hold too much against him.
To everyone here who's pissed off at someone else - I really don't want to see this flare up into hostility. This isn't a FORD board, after all. We don't do that here!
Needless to say though, that's pretty cool that you've done something like that and lived to tell about it! :) Just be careful, we do need your cam advice around here.
Ganey,
Glad you came back in to post on this. By putting " " in your message where you did, it seemed as if you were saying that you were out drinking, then drove home at 100+ and managed to do a 360 on the highway. Glad that's not the case. Sorry your thread got hijacked. Only time I've spun around at speed was in my truck on the highway when I hit black ice. Luckily there was nothing around at the time because I ended up facing what could have been oncoming traffic. Unfortunately, there was no saving it and I went off the road and ended up with the truck on it's side. :( At least I was able to walk away from it, and hopefully learned to not drive in weather that could result in ice like that.

Why should I apologize? Read what I posted, it says "IF this is true", as in the drinking and driving, THEN I think he's a fool. So, since it's NOT true, I didn't call anyone anything.
Some forum members(myself and others) have made comments about cross-fire injection, not trying to upset anyone, and in many cases joking about it....
But many times a few feathers got ruffled and totally uncalled for comments were made. As others have mentioned, there really isn't any need for things like that to happen.
Bottom line, many of us feel strongly about certain things, nothing wrong with that. But name calling and disrespect should be left out of the mix.
then suddenly the back came around fast spinning, caught it & around the other way spinning, caught it & straight ahead.
G/F thought I was showing off.
thats not a very good explanation. Did it spin in a straight line down the highway? If so you were really lucky, because typically what happens is at some point when the car is spinning it gets close to parallel with the path of the slide and all of a sudden you are darting off into a barrier of off the road. Sorry but i don't think it is possible to "catch it" ie. recover from a spin at 100 mph once much less 2 times unless you are a professional race car driver.
In the track schools i attend, they say "in a spin, both feet in" ie. lock the brakes and DONT try to save it. You want to continue to slide down the track. Again if you try to be a hero and save it most of the time you will end up darting off in a direction you don't want to go. This is why they say active handling isn't a good thing on the new cars.
