Dave I have those inserts for #3 . I'm going to try and weld them in place with the body on. Did you get a referencce pint to locate the height of the insert?
I got new 75 seat belt reinforcements from Bair's,great service too.
Gary - I didn't have to deal with the rocker area, since it is solid on my 70 rear clip.
From the pictures, it looks like you want to set the insert so that the bottom
surface sits flush on top of the rocker channel. BUT ... I don't know for sure.
I got the rear bumpers off today, I didn't know if they were going to come off or not. Not a lot more to do before I will be ready to lift it. Any body want to loan me the lift straps? My freind sold his. No big deal, I will buy some and have them for the next guy that needs them.
Brain I would loan you my lift straps but I am about to remove my body this weekend, I bought mine at corvette central it was pretty cheap and it will be yours forever...In case of another corvette project
I have everthing off and ready to lift te body. Dave, You are right about needing the hole rocker channel. Cananybody figure out why none of the suppliers have new ones. I talked to a guy that said he had new ones made for his 74. He is going to get me the name so I can talk to them.Hoping to lift it on Saturday.
I'm surprised you are having trouble finding these. I did check back, and Corvette Central is where I got mine. They still show them on their web site for about $140 per side. I do remember I had to wait a while for them though.
Good deal! Those look like they will work just fine. They have the same obround shaped holes like the replacements I got. I did end up drilling a few more holes for the pocket welds to be adequately spaced. Good luck with your lift and removal project this weekend.
It's apart. Frame looks to be in real good shape. Now comes the fun part of cleaning it up and replacing fuel/brake lines. I am going to pull th tank and have it checked out or replaced. There wasn't anything for the lifting straps to hold on to the rockers so I had to be very careful wth it. All and all, a fruitful day without any problems. New pictures on te web page
