Hey everyone, I was just wondering if I should join a Corvette Club in my town. The cost is 57 dollars the first year, and then half that per year afterwards. Could ya let me in on the pros and cons? Thanks everybody!
It depends on you and the club. All clubs are different and until recently I was not the club joining type. Having a little more free time on my hands now, I really enjoy the activities and the new friendships developed through the club. Visit a couple of meetings or outings before you join. You'll know soon if it's for you or not. Make sure it's not a club where it's geared for C5's only. It seems there is more of that with this generation for some reason.

Most clubs I nave been around are really becoming C-5 clubs. They are not much fun for the older cars. In fact on an average weekend event cruise there will be only one or two cars out of 12 to 15 that are not C-5's. They also cruise at speeds that are to fast for a lot of the older cars.
Joining the club was one of the best Corvette things I have done. We have a great time. The wife is involved and has met lots of great new friends. Weekend cruises are a blast and every couple of weeks we do a day trip or even weekend trips to somewhere.
I've heard good and bad about many other clubs. I'd say give it a try and see how it goes. You might hopefully really enjoy it. It's also been a great source of info and contacts.

That's been my experience too with the local club. Nice guys, but mostly C5's & more interested in shining than wrenching. Luckily, one of the members (Page62) is a corvetteforum C3er and has worked hard to get the older vette & gearhead crowds more active in our local club. He even bribed Lars into coming down and tuning our cars for us! Maybe you can be the C3 guy who gets your local club into doing more than Zaino parties--
I belong to the" Original Corvette Club of St Louis', we have about 460 members, but like most of the other post Ive read, it seems that the C5s are taking over. I believe that most of our clubs cars are C5s and we do not share the same interest. We had a car show last weekend and a brand new 2003 took the best of show. Right out of the showroom. Dont know what we are going to do. Not much fun this way.....LT
I've enjoyed my club....Sunburst Corvette Club of Crystal Lake, WI. the best thing is an excuse to go driving. If (1) Vette on the road gets attention you ought to see (30) or more driving! :chevy :flag :chevy
My wife and I wern't big on the club thing either, and since we are members of the Toronto Shark Pack (Not a club, just a bunch of people who get toghter to have fun) we never really saw the need. However, we figured we'd try out a club, the Wasaga Beach Corvette Club. If the people are anything like the Toronto Shark Pack, we're going to have a GREAT time.
Joined for the following reasons: good advice on repairs, game nights during the winter, ice cream runs in the summer, picnics, other cruises throughout the year, meetings.
Our club is a good mix of old and new and nobody feels slighted because of an older model.
Shows and ralleys are attended by many menbers but are not a priority - social events and fellowship are a top priority.

Re: Corvette Clubs (Jerpitcher)
Welcome to the forum. I commonly do work in Yuma, so I know the hell that this summer has been. I live over in Chandler.
I was a member of the local Corvette club here for 2 years, but then dropped out. Most of the members were older (45-65 years) and all they wanted to do was drive somewhere to drink. Not much fun for me.
A bunch of us in this area have formed our own "club" called Arizona Corvette Enthusiasts. We get together for events, work on each other's cars and generally have fun. We don't do meetings or dues or anything like that.
The calendar of our events is on our web page. Also go up to the tool bar, where it says "tools" and then go to "member locator". Find the e-mails for the Corvette Forum members in your area and ask them about the local clubs and Corvette events.
Besides the trip to San Diego on Friday - Sunday, I may have to drive back out there next Monday for work.

Yeah we have a few clubs up here in seattle, the Corvette marque club of seattle, and the classic glass club. But my problem is, A: I think I am just too young to really feel included, B: I am into HP and styling mainly modifictations in general, and the club members seem to frown if you don't even have the original floor mats in there. I think I will have my own club.. and I will go to everyone elses club events and pull up in a far corner, Turn on the fog machine get out wearing all black in a black helmet and have friday the 13th music playing in the back ground. BWAHAHAHAH

The local club here is almost all C5's & restaurants. pretty boring.
We took the '70 up to Big Bear last Saturday for the big Corvette weekend. About 600 Corvettes showed up which was great, but about 550 of them were C5's which was not so great. On the bright side I did FINALLY get my wave returned from C5'rs........... about 550 times! In all fairness to the C5's, it's not their fault the C3's & C2's didn't have a better turn out.
Where were you guys?

Thanks to everyone for their information and the welcome. I'll check out the information for that San Diego get together and I'll see what I can come up with! Thanks again! :D
I'm going to be making my way to Tucson on the 25th, so I won't be able to travel with you all...I may see you on the road though! I checked out your website and it looks like a lot of fun. I'm 19, and see that many of the members are older than I am. If I joined would that make me the youngest? Thanks again!
