Well a friend has an '86 up the road, I just put a battery and local rebuilt alternator in it...works fine,.....well that wasy last week....NOW the water pump is bad....I don't think it's ever been changed....180k miles and being an '86 and all...well about time, don't cha' yeh think???

well, ok, I pull some of my tools and go up the road a piece, and sure enough I fina a damn bloody cursed TORX bolt right up under the R4 compressor, where it can't be seen...and sure eough he has no torx....ok....I go buy a set, damn TAIWAN junk...only thing they have these days....plain steel...soft as a baby's butt....CRAP!!!!.....so I go pull this cursed BOLT,.....and sure enough the damn torx driver bit rounds out and is worthless!!!!.....

SO, back home again, picked up the water pump anyway...and to get MY older AMERICAN made torx set and pull that damn bolt....
stupic facking GM...no need for that crap...just plainly NO NEED....

Facking tool salesmen....

Always wondered why they put those stupid torx bolts on cars....now I know why....to **** of GENE!!

I know whatcha mean tho. Those things **** me off too. I've run across a few of them during my pre-vette days. I'd always replace em with hex or slotted-phillips heads when I could.

I have a better one, try a reverse torx, where it looks like there is a torx bit sticking out at you ! It was on a '93 Mark VIII I was working on, try finding that at autozone !

Torx bits are great for automated assemblies because they stay on the bit better.

They work great, but you have to have exactly the right size or they'll get rounded off in a heartbeat.

It's why I always keep my vicegrips with my torx bits.
