The 1967 L79 has a bypass system. It consists of a 90 degree snout on the waterpump, a straight snout on the intake manifold with a short 90 degree rubber hose in between. I have ordered those parts to complete this #3890490 intake installation.

Try a socket extension (1/2" I believe) and seat it lightly before turning. Hope it works out.........
By the way, nice vette!! Seems C2's have been out of sight in price since I could affort one! :chevy
Rod,
I tried that; a bit like the differential plug on RWD cars and trucks. But it doesn't fit. I have friends at a local GM dealer. I will drop by today. I suspect it is a large Allen male socket as Fevre has noted.
It's a pretty car. I enjoy it very much. They are not cheap but I wanted a C2 for some time and one day I said to myself "just do it." The retirement savings fund took a bit of a hit but I have no regrets. And my Brother is enjoying my former 1979 to no end. So I am happy with the decision to take the financial plunge.
Find a short bolt w/nut with a head that fits the plug.
Weld the nut on the end of the bolt.
Clean the plug out - especially little stones and dirt in the bottom.
Put the head of the bolt in the plug and use a ratchet/socket to remove the plug.
