Default Basic Mods for a '79 L48

A friend of mine has a stock '79 L48. I don't know much about these because I didn't have mine for very long.

Has anyone had any experience with basic mods? I'm talking things like intake, headers, possibly carb, and maybe roller rockers (1.5 or 1.6?).

Any input would be great!

Thanks,
Peter

True dual exhaust system is a great place to start if you can legally do it in PA. L-48's can really benefit from a bigger cam too. A good recurve kit is also a good bang for the buck. Just these three mods really woke up my '76 L-48. I have since added heads and headers.... GOOD LUCK

Roller rockers are probably the least bang for your buck. I agree that cam, intake, headers, and exhaust are likely the best place to start.

Hedders, hiflow cat and a good set of performance mufflers. A dyno tune up with a recurve kit and a carb overhaul, with a K&N filter. After that, it has to go internal.

Headers, intake, dual exhaust, holley carb seem to help....

Roller rockers will have none to minimal effect depending on ratio & will run about like stock L-48. More cam is needed.

Peter

Cam & exhaust. See what many refer to as my Exhaust topic. http://www.corvettefaq.com/c3/ganeyexhaust.htm
When the cam is done is a good time to do intake.
