I`ve talking to a guy whos has a set of CAT connecting rods for a BB.I`ve tried to get some info on those from the net,but didnt find any technical infon on them.Does anyone know something about these
if it were me, I wouldn't run their stuff. I have severe doubts about the quality. I know someone who had their hardened pushrod guideplates and they lasted for a few months: ( < 2000 miles) .
I have their top of the line 6" 4340 "H" Beam Super Racing Rod for my new engine. I've heard that a lot of Circle Track guys are running these with no problems :) .
My only experience with a C.A.T. product was a few years ago when I built a 468ci Rat motor for a guy to go in his Tunnel Jet Ski Boat.
It was a crankshaft from them and the counterweights are larger than GM causing interference with the skirts on the TRW L2465F's used. I caught it during mock-up and removed about .050 material on the thrust side of the inner skirt and all was well.
The motor made about 625- 650 hp @ 6200rpm and is still alive 4 seasons later..good cranks for 189 bucks
This is a connecting rod thread though...and I have not seen or used the rods they offer.
Thanks for the info....I got the part nr from the guy,and its CR-454.It looks like its a OEM replacement..I wonder how these hold up to 600Hp, 7000Rpm and a buttload of Tourque...

I would let someone else find the answer to that :)
Think GM Dimple Rods or Eagle for that kind of service. RPM is what kills rods, not torque or horsepower .

I can throw my first-hand experience into this conversation. I am running the CAT 4340 H-Beam with 7/16" rod bolts. I have had my motor to 7000RPMs before with ZERO problems. I paid $333 (shipped to my doorstep) for these rods. They are a very nice rod.
I also agree with Curtis....it is not horsepower or torque that kills motors. RPM is what kills motors.
