Took the '71 for a ride, before serious disassembly starts. Stopped on an errand and there was a guy and his wife? looking at the car when I was ready to leave. As usually happens, the questions/statements started.
He told me that he'd owned a '75 just like it.  His, however had been "special ordered" and he personally picked it up at the Corvette factory in Bowling Green.
The carton I had picked up has of a bulky nature, so the top went down. My new found "friend" turned to his wife and commented that "his" car had a power top, as only the lesser, (cheap) versions had manual tops.
Just before I left, I was told the rectangular exhaust tips really didn't look as good as the "factory" tips.
Is it just me, or am I being too sensitive? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
A club I used to be in did high school homecommings. The cars would attract a lot of kids while we were getting set up. One kid told us he couldn't wait 'till he graduated because his dad was going to give him the corvette he had saved for him. We asked what year it was and he responded "an 83." We told him to hang onto it because they were pretty rare. He said he knew that and that was why his dad bought it.
I had a chev truck owner tell me that his 454 was the block out of a 76' vette yesterday...
I wanted to slap him, but i says... I says.. " Really? in 76' those vettes came with really big bad big blocks, how come your only dynoing 335 HP to the rear wheels?"
- He was of the belief that his 454 would dyno at like 480 HP because he had just dumped like $6,000.00 into it.

Re: AAARRRGGGHHH!!! (1970 Stingray)
If it is one of the guys I work with I usually do a little correcting. If it is someone I don't know, I let them think what they want. You can't correct everyone.
One of the guys I work with, has a way of stretching the truth and believes it, told me a story of a chevelle he had that would pull the wheels when it hit second. Blah, blah, blah. Yeah, uh-uh, no kidding.
