I replaced the control valve, ram, and all 4 hoses. Rebuilt the power steering pump/reservoir assembly. Drove the car last weekend for about 20 miles, only noted a few drops. Drove it 60 miles yesterday and there was spewage all over the front and bottom of my nice clean engine! :mad
I think I might have put too much fluid in the reservoir. Does this happen when you do that? Oh yeah, I also got into the throttle a little bit more yesterday than I did last weekend (new engine).

Mine still leaks even after replacing the control valve that I was told was the problem of the leaks... http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...9/407031_3.jpg :chevy
Thanks to this poll, I now have the first leak in my power steering since I bought the car in 1988... :smash: :smash: :smash: Spent my fun money at Carlisle on a piston rebuild kit and new hoses. It's only the piston that leaks, but while I'm at it... :D
I've replaced the control valve twice in the past five years. I've replaced all hoses. And, I replaced the ram once. I was finally lead-free!
Then, I switched to a serpentine system - which requires a different pump. Guess what - this pump is leaking from the housing/pump seal! There's no escape!

For those whos' power steering components leak, when you park your vette, no matter where it is, do you always put the wheel back straight? If you park your car even to go into the store for 10 min. or what have you you should always put the tires straight. This will help w/the power steering components last longer.

hould always put the tires straight. This will help w/the power steering components last longer.

I do not understand how this would make a difference. Please explain.
How does the stop leak work in the system? Does it gum things up and shorten the life or is it fine to use? Opinions?

Mine did not leak when I got it.
Then I put fluid in and it leaked for about 30 minutes.
Then it stopped leaking.
I narrowed down the problem to putting in power steering fluid and stopped doing it.
No more leaks!
I voted no, since the problem has not persisted.
Actually I voted yes, I was impressed at the comprehensive and thorough leak, my car had a no-nonsense attitude about draining every drop out in just 30 minutes!
Truly a RARE configuration, maybe I'll put it up on eBay and see if I can't get $30K for it.

The sun comes up ....
The sun sets .....
The D..N leaks, sometimes a litle ... sometimes a bit more than a little.
Its' just one of those things that will happen.
Just bought a new control valve, steering ram and will put it on next week.
Hope this cures it.
