Default '82 performance question

'82 owners-what is your time for 0-60(stock only) I'd like some kind of comparison to see how mine stacks up. Also, does anyone have the posted 0-60 magazine or factory test times?

SuperFast 80,
Thanks for the article. I couldn't read it on the screen, but it printed just fine. Just using a watch, I am getting 8.0 sec. for 0-60, so I'm in the ball park.

If you are using the latest version of Internet Explorer, it automatically resizes for the screen resolution. You should mouse over the pics and you will get a small icon in the bottom corner of the pic with a box and 4 arrows pointing outward. Click on it to view the actual size.

Glad you got what you were looking for.

8.0 ? that sounds realyl really slow. Is that correct? I got around 6.5secs on my stock engine (everything stoc, never been opened up)

Yours ran better than the one in the above article. I even have the March underdriven pulleys on mine too. I am going to remove them and try it stock again and see what I get. That is if I can ever get that &*%# clutch fan off of the pulley! :smash: I also have a rough idle I am trying to track down. It slowly surges from 700-750 rpm and the engine will get a shudder to it and than go away again. You can almost keep time to it. Very frustrating. First thing the manual keeps pointing to is "check all vacuum lines for cracks" so I guess I'll start by replacing all the lines and take it from there. We don't have an ace mechanic for X-fire around here that I can find, so I'll have to rely on this site.

A surge could be a MAP problem, a fuel pump problem or just the fuel puddling that is taking place in the manifold. It's not that ubncommon. Also, 700-750 rpm is way low. Screw up the idle a tad to around 800 and see if it picks up better from there. If you want to know how to adjust minimum air go to the texh section on http://www.crossfire.homeip.net

Twin Turbo,
Thanks for the idle info. Do you think this "shudder" could be from the lifters being missadjusted? Some time ago I installed a set of roller rockers, and when I was setting the lifters I was interrupted for several hours and had to come back to the job after they had bled back down. I had to start over, and I was always a little uncertain of the job. Think it would be wise to dissassemble and re-adjust the lifters???
