I have an off idle stumble, it almost dies but only when you slowly apply the gas. I have replaced the cap, rotor, wires and plugs and I did rebuild the carb. It is not as bad when the car is warm but still noticable. Refered to Lars paper on rebuilds and checked the flow of gas from the accelerator pump, seems to be the first 1/8" of travel of the pump rod that I do not get any fuel flowing out. Pump is new with the kit so I don't think it is sticking. Car is not on the road yet.
Also seems to have play in the buterfly shaft / bushings. Can this cause this problem.
Just because the accel pump is new does not mean it is good. I had a new one go bad because it was not compatible w/modern fuels. Caused a bad stumble.
I bet this is your problem.
My carb just starting to have a problem, when it gets hot, it will stave for gas coming out of first gear, only sometimes, and only hot. I doubt it vapor lock, must be in the carb.

You should have an immediate pump shot with the slightest throttle movement on your accel pump. If you have a "dead spot," you have a problem that needs to be corrected. A lot of carb kits have accel pumps that are not compatible with modern fuels, and this will cause the pump to swell up in the pump bore and refuse to provide an initial pump shot. The pump will appear to move from the outside, but it's actually just compressing the pump spring without moving the rubber plunger. Check this out well.

Thanks Guys
Lars, where could I get the correct pump if this is my problem. Do you have any part #. Do you think that the play in my butterfly valve shaft is a problem?
