Can anyone tell me if Pt# 7044203 is the correct rochester carb for a '71 LS-5 454? It came with the car(presently has a Holley on the engine) and I'd like to have it rebuilt down the road and put the original carb back on if it's not shot. The Holley probably needs a rebuild anyway, so it's just a thought.
No, it is not. The fourth digit gives it away as a '1974' model year carb. Not even a 1974 Corvette carb-so it could be a "'74 anything GM that took a Q-Jet". Don't have that # listed in my resources. A "203" was used in '73 as an L-48 carb with manual transmission.

Re: Rochester Q-Jet identification... (bgrice)
Carb number 7044203 is a Q-Jet off of a 1974 350 Chevelle/Camaro/El Camino with manual transmission and 350 manual transmission Chevy/GMC Truck. In stock form, it is jetted with #75 primary metering jets, #46 primary metering rods, and "CH" secondary rods.

I always find use for rebuildable Q-Jets. If you want to donate it to the Hobby, I'm sure I will find a good home for it on a Vette that's in dire need of a carb. I've donated quite a few carbs to Forum members, so I'm always running short on carbs. If you would like to ship it out, drop me an e-mail to:

and I'll give you the address.
Thanks!
You've got mail. I saw your thread about not being able to respond to e-mail right now, so just shoot me the address when you get the bugs(worms) out of your home 'puter(or from work).
