My company will most likely want me to move to Florida. The new position is an awesome opportunity for me but frankly a move to Florida would be a shock. Now living in NE Ohio. Not to mention the increase in air travel.
The area in Fla. would be Clearwater.
Year round Vetting would be a huge plus. No snow etc.
Anyone know anything about this area of Fla?
Cost of living, etc would be great.
I am sure Grandsport and others can show you around.
Grandsport is in Miami, but I think he travels to that part of FL often. I'm sure he'll chime in. I'm in Orlando but there are plently of forum members on that side of the state that will be more than happy to help you out with good information. If you come over to O town let me know and I will show you around here.
I would do it. I love beaches, bikinis, thongs, and....well, never mind. But yeah, I would move to FL.
Is there going to be an appreciable change in the cost of living? Taxes? What about the smog cops?
Brett
No smog police (cats off baby!!), lots of bikinis, year round nice weather.....I love Florida!! Not sure about taxes or cost of living because I've lived here my teen and short adult life. I don't think either is much more then most places in the U.S. I guess it all depends on where you're coming from.
There is LOTS of rain though, so your Vette WILL get wet sometime.
I live in Largo Fla which is south of Clearwater about 10 mins away.
Some perks are..........
1. No emission testing
2. No state income tax
3. It never snows(almost never)none of that winter shizt needed.
4. Your new cars engine wears out before the body does.
5. Traveling to Tampa airport buy car takes 30 to 40 minutes
6. Gas 1.50 to 1.60 gallon for 87
On the down side the turons(tourists) really suck they drive all over the place slower than shizit and take up space in the middle of rush hour.
County sales tax is 7% and its damn hot in the middle of summer, almost
too hot for vetting without the ac on.
Overall, Clearwater is a nice place to live in Pinellas County. There not doing you wrong.
I've been in FL for about 20 years. I lived on the west coast for many years. It's great over there. The beaches are wonderful. Once you get used to the summertime humidity you'll love it here.
