Default Looking for interlocking motor mounts for 1981 Vette

I'm looking for interlocking metal with rubber sandwich type motor mounts...Unbreakable if there's such a thing???????
Please provide link to companies selling these type of motor mounts....My other option is to tie this engine down with cable or chain.

There are a pair of mounts in the Mid-America catalog that look like what you are talking about. This is what it says, Replace your 1963-82 Corvette's deteriorating rubber engine mounts with the unparalleled durability of urethane! With a higher load-bearing capacity, greater tear strength, better compression set, greater abrasion resistance and higher tolerance to grease, oil and ozone, these long-life Urethane Engine Mounts will hold the line even during the highest horsepower and torque applications. Sold in pairs. Part number 612-432. The price is $59.99. This is all on page 3-6 of the Mid-America catolog. Its catalog 133Y. Hope this has helped you, take care. :seeya

Yes, the urethane mounts from energy suspension are interlockin. Oh and 60$? dang, they're around 35 or so from summit last time I checked.

go to carters in honolulu, ask for the heavy duty motor mounts for a corvette or the truck mounts there all the same truck mounts are cheaper, ones made by MOOG are the best ones, if you dont think that will hold there's an old racers trick I picked up from the stock car guys in s.carolina i can show you at the hobbie shop at hickam, you need to mod the mounts if your not running the mounts heavy duty but the horse power your running I've seen the locking mounts break but that was on a 4spd big block drag car, oh yeah there a factory mod from the 60's that works too, it don't look ugly like using a chain :steering:

I am almost possitive that Autozone sells interlocking motor mounts. I've bought motor mounts for several old cars from Autozone, and they appear to me to be locking, but they are rubber and made overseas-if that bothers you.

Cappy - I use what rod showed you from summit. They are the energy suspension poly. about $35 each. I have faith in them.:)

Thanks for all the feed back guys.....I'll check with Summit tomorrow when they're open....closed for Labor Day.
Thanks Richard Cooper for the info to Mid America.
These were new motor mounts recently replaced when I installed the 415 ci....Driver side was ripped completely in half.
I think poly interlocking mounts will probably solve this problem.
Or BNYTRO call me at number on your IM.
Thanks again Rod for the link to Summit.
GKull...see you this Friday.....Do you want me to tear engine down to bare block or wait till you arrive?

I'm with GKull. I'm using the same mounts and neither autocrossing nor brakestands have put any sort of major strain on them yet. The car feels very smooth. Much better than it did with that crappy rubber mount that blew after a year!

I'll call Summit Racing tomorrow....Hope they have Kit for 1981 Vette. Might as well do the trans mount at the same time. Thanks all for the information :seeya
