i have emailed Lars to inquire about getting this kit...
if you have it already...what does it consist of?
what did it do for your car?
how much do they cost?
info on these anybody...please?????
thanx!
Be patient...Lars will get back to you!
It's 45 bucks. For an HEI kit, there are some shims, advance springs, and a vacuum unit. Plus very comprehensive instructions.
Is it worth it? Do you have to ask such a question about any product or service Lars provides???
i recieved an email from Lars and im very disapointed that i will not be able to get the kit, at least for a while...
it appears that he has temporarily suspended the building of the kits due to several restoration projects that he has going on right now...
he said that he would be glad to notify me when he has some time to build another few kits...
oh well...i guess i should have jumped when i had the chance...
ill just wait it out and get one down the road... :yesnod:
The Guy does this sort of stuff (He also rebuilt my Q-Jet, which still rocks BTW!) as a sideline and when he's got the stuff and the time, ya gotta jump in there and grab onto them. I got lucky I guess.........
If you have the time, you can optimize the mechanical and vacuum advance curve yourself. Check out Engine / Ignition section of http://www.corvettefaq.com for specifics.
What does your current igniton advance curve look like?

I don't have the time to put together kits right now due to several projects that I have to get completed, but you can come up with most of the parts yourself:
Buy a Mr. Gasket part number 928 or 927. Buy a Moroso part number 26140. If you're running HEI, buy a NAPA part number VC1838. If your engine pulls poor vacuum, buy part number VC1862. If you have a points-style distributor, buy part number VC1810.
If you have HEI, use the 2 gold springs out of the Mr. Gasket kit. With these two springs slapped in place, do a total check on your timing to see if you can get 36 degrees total with an intial advance less than 20 degrees. If not, you will need a set of the custom weights that I build to lengthen the curve - there should be several sets available here on the Forum from people who bought the kits but dd not need to use the custom weights. You can also e-mail me for an Adobe Acrobat version of the complete installation instructions which includes all this tuning info.

I'm at work and don't have access to my home e-mail... could you e-mail me at my office? I have the .pdf installation instruction file here on my office computer if that's what you're e-mailing me for:
