Sorry I hope they get caught. I work at a used Corvette dealership and 4 years ago we had a problem with T-Tops being stolen. There was a guy who hit every car dealer with in 200 miles. This guy was good he would surf the classifieds and knew where the cars were.

He would then come between 2am--4am and smash the windows out of the C4/C5 cars or drill the lock out of the C3 cars. It didn't matter if what kind of locks were on the tops he had them off in no time. He would also put a penny in the lighter to blow out the interior light fuse. On 78 up cars with the factory alarms he would take the battery cable off the frame so the alarm wouldn't go off.

On night he took the wrong guys tops, a state cop and after this guy made some inquires he found out how big of a ring this was. Like any crook he got sloppy and greedy and the police were on to him. They followed him around and watched him stealing the tops. They waited for him to take the the tops to sell and nabb him with a Ryder truck full. I think he got 5 years in the clink. The police said he stole over 1,000 tops in PA,NJ,NY,and DE in three years.

There was a rash of minor breakins into cars around here a month ago or so. They just stole change and cigerettes tho, but I'd still kill em if I caught em!

Stealing T-Tops? What the hell do you do with 1000 T-Tops!?

yeah, these days its really hard to have anything nice, especially a car. If you got a nice car and drive it around....people tend to notice. In fact, more often than not, people will notice you and actually start following you around to get to your car.

If you're into speakers and car stereo systems and all that....just driving your car around and blasting the speakers is like putting up a big sign saying "COME STEAL ME". around here at least if you got an aftermarket cd player or system in your car, it is GOING TO GET STOLEN. I actually havnt met anyone who's been able to keep a cd player in their car for more than 2 years.

One night someone came by our house, broke into our cars, and stole all 3 cd players out of them, even though 1 of them didnt even work. The interesting thing was that there was some kind of equipment that they left in my brothers truck that made the piece they stole essentially useless. The next night my brother was at a friends house, and they came and stole that part out.

So, it's kind of scary, people do follow you. Thats the price you pay for being flashy.

My town is kind of small so it's never really a mystery who's doing it either. I'm lucky in that my aunt is a "special" education teacher at a local high school, so she basically knows all the kids who are responsible for all the thefts. They're stupid enough to brag about it in class. Then they act all surprised when a couple of large fellows come to their doorstep demanding their property back.

There was kind of a big case here a year ago where two of those kids broke into a house. The one cut his wrist smashing the window out and was bleeding badly. The second one ignored the plight of his friend and went into the house, apparently to steal some guns from a gun cabinet in the garage. Unfortunatly for him, the owner of the house was actually home, his car was just in the shop for the night. He came into the garage with a loaded .357 to find a kid holding one of his rifles. He shot and killed the kid in the garage, the second one hearing the shot ran away, but the increased heart beat just made him bleed faster. He was found dead in field not far from the house.

For some reason, nobody really missed those two.

That means a lot to me Jim. I talked with my insurance and they said that the car might be totaled out. I am not sure though. I kinda want it to be totaled out so that I can start from scratch again, and then I have put a lot of work in to my car in the past year so I just don't want it to be all taken away! hrm. oh well at lest the car is goign to be repaired by a corvette specialist here in Wooster. He knos what he is doing and will hopefully get me on my way as quickly as possible.

I also need to make a follow up with the officer to see if there has been anything like this happen to any one else. See if they have any leads or if my incident will just go to the unsolved box.

Just a thought, did you buy the hedders with a credit card, some have built in replacements for lost or stolen items.

I have no pity for whatever happens to the punks who did that. If you are like me, you have not only a monetary investment in your Vette, but blood, sweat, and tears also. They should sandpaper thier nads, and soak 'em in alcohol before puttin' thier sorry butts out in the fields doin' some labor intense work on a hot-Azz day to pay off the damage they've done.
