Clean with paint thinner, then wax and oil remover, then sand, then prime, then paint.
If you sand before cleaning you grind the grease into the fiberglass and it will never come out!

For those smooth areas that need to be roughed a bit for fresh paint, I use scotchbrite pads. Clean with solvent, and paint away............ :yesnod:

Just painted my firewall with a black semi gloss epoxy paint. After 24 hours of hardening time the results were immaculate. Smooth and cristal like finish. The good thing about epoxy paints is that in the future you may clean them even with thinners and the paint will never come off. Prior to do your painting clean again with thinner to avoid any grease contamination. You'll love the results! Remember, preparation takes 95% of your time while Painting only 5%
