should you hear these tick with the valve covers on? i would of thought that these would be quiet, there not loud, but it's noticible when the hoods open, if this is normal, why do they tick??

Re: full roller rocker tick (Fevre)
Mine make quite a clatter with a solid cam however you would think they would be quieter with a hydraulic cam, did you adjust them with the motor running ?
Another thing is that there is a little play, not musch but it's there in the roller tip itself maybe that's what you are hearing.
If its a hydraulic cam they should be quiet no matter what rocker arms are being used. If the noise is actually comming from the valve train, somethin aint right.
There's a little noise, especially if you are running one of Comp's Xtreme Energy cams. I called them about my 454 with a 256XE cam. they said that with the steep ramps of the XE cams there is more valvetrain noise.
My 350 with Comp 256H and 1.6 full roller rockers makes a different sound at idle than it did with stock rockers, but it's not really a tick. It's more muffled and mechanical, like a sewing machine. If you have a loud ticking noise, or if it's not the same for every cylinder then you may have a problem.

I had a set of Harland Sharp full rollers that came with my 73 project car so I put them on when I rebuilt the engine. I installed a 262XE cam and I had a noticeable clatter from the rockers even after adjusting them with the engine running. I then put on the stock rockers and have no noise. I sold the rollers and I am going to live with the stock ones for a while anyway. Craig
thanks,
i believe your right, i checked both sides everything is till the exact way as when they where first set, they are crane blazer rollers, and i am using a xe 274 comp cam, it does sound like a sewing machine..lol. very slighty,
