Re: Protecting your vette during hurricane (Captain_Kaboom)
I have some advice for anyone near the path of this storm. My experience with a fairly large hurricane is still fresh in my mind, we survived hurricane Lilly on Oct 3 of last year. It hit our coast as a strong category 2, we hadn't survived a storm that strong in decades. EVERYONE I have spoken to since the storm say they WILL NOT stay for the next one that strong. Between my Father and I we have 3 shops I could have stored my 71 in, luckily I chose the one that got no damage at all. Both his shop and mine(the one in my sig) were hit pretty hard. My parish(county) where I live evacuated us out so we stayed at my parents house, roughly 20 miles more inland than mine. The damage was just as bad if not worst there. 100 miles inland means nothing to a hurricane. My wifes car recieved damage out in my parents driveway from flying roof shingles, there was alot of that going on.. Even our 30 year roof on our new(6 months old) house was ripped up in a section or two.
I think the idea of an enclosed storage facility FAR inland is a great idea.
If they predict that the storm is going to hit a certain area and you want to move your stuff somewhere else along the coast, don't do it....
They had predicted the area where our camp is would be the hardest hit, so we hauled most everything home, 70 miles east along the coast. Our camp was hardly effected, we ended up going stay at our camp for several days while the power was being restored back home. Everything we had moved came close to being damaged in one of the damaged shops.
My wife and I had thought hard about taking a little trip to Bowling Green when the storm approached us, she informed me next time we are definetly going.
Best of luck to you all!!! Hope everyone fairs well.
If anyone would like to see some interesting pics from the aftermath I have some I can email, just send me an IM or post.

Jvette,
You could try the parking garage at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. If you leave after 9:30 pm the gates are up and you can drive out for free.
