I am switching my 66 from carb. over to TPI and I am sure some of you have done this. I need some info.
What year and type of gas pedal assembly did you use to convert from linkage to cable?
Where did you connect your return line to the gas tank at?

Thanks, I bought the 1988 TPI at a swap meet along with the ecm and harness made by Fuel injection Specialties in San Antonio. This will be a winter project but I want to start getting all the materials together. Hate waiting to the last minute and ordering piece meal.

Timely thread. With my carb woes, I'm thinking along this same direction.

What's a reasonable cost for a TPI install? Including TPI, wiring harness, computer, etc... everything to get going.

Costs are all over the map. Most units I have seen for sale at swap meets have bent tube, missing sensors, dead injectors, chopped wiring or missing ECUs.

I came to the conclusion that I was better off time wise and money wise to buy a complete unit from Fuel Injection Specialists in San Antonio, Street and Performance in Mena, Ark or TPIS.

After wrestling with a Holley ProJection for a couple of years, I also came to the conclusion that I wanted a GM unit that could be serviced by someone besides a speed shop expert.

BTW, Just kidding with Veet66 - he's a friend who has helped me a great deal with my 71.

I think you need go junkyard raiding for lots of those bells and whistles you will need for your install, anything important you should note the make and model of the car it's off of, just incase....like that throttle cable,....
another thing, you may want to swap gas pedals from a shark, and I used a junkyard cable that fit right in with allmost NO mods....another thing you may want to try your original setup with a small mod to the linkage bar....

I agree a GM computer with aftermarket chip is the way to go...once again Junkyard at ten bux each. pick up a bunch of them....that way you have a spare in case...#1227730 is the one you want, very common item from the late 80's.....get the wiring connectors you will need from junkyard also....
strip wires back as far as you can, and make up your own harness, I find it's a lot easier that way, as you can be totally free to do your own thing...

I"m helping a friend do his '64 for a total makeover, the car is getting everything under the hood reworked including moving the a/c over to the pass side, and the alternator over to the driver's side....new brackets, totally reworked wiring, the works....
