What I thought was a stout motor turned out to be a 1979 stock truck 350 and 4 speed!! A whopping 170 HP at the rear wheels, and 200 lbs. of torque!! :mad
Well I was going to do a complete under body on it next winter, but it got moved up!!
New sallee chevy crate 420 hp, ZZ4 on the way!! Glad I have 2 spare muncie trans also to make the swap.
I'll spend the winter on underside repair/restore, and then drop the motor come early spring.
Busy winter ahead!! Fire up the heaters in the Garage!!
It's amazing what you find under the hood sometimes huh garandfan? Looks like we have another one that has fallen into the hands of the dark side of "Leadfoot City". :p:
Fun aside.... does Sallee have these engines ready to go or are they like Dell where you pick your configuration and they put it together?
You order them the way you want them. They offer the option to dyno, tune, and breakin the motor. I look at this a cheap insurance policy, that crossing my fingers means the engine won't blow a week after I get it!!
I ordered the 420 HP option 4 ZZ4, and added the MSD ignition, tach-drive dist., short water pump, plug, wires, etc. It's set up and ready to roll, just don't ask the price!! :-)
2-3 week lead time from order to delivery.
Plus it now frees up the truck block to make a short block 383 for the 86.
