Default Oh yeah! I may get my engine next week

I visited the machine shop yesterday to drop off some things and he shows me the block. It's been align bored, clean, bored, the rear main cap repaired, the crank is ready and the rods are done. Now we're getting somewhere! He says he should have it done by next week. Now I'm getting excited! If you don't recall, the engine spun 3 rod bearings at the Cruise-in. It's been 4 months now and I REALLY miss driving the Vette (so does my wife).

This guy is so busy he has only had the time in the last few weeks to work on it. He told me before I dropped it off that it would be at least a month before he could even work on it. It took a bit longer than that but now things are happening. I expect this engine to run really good.

It turns out that he only needed to bore the block .020 so I'm happy about that (it's a numbers matching block). I'm going to use KB hypereutectic pistons, a comp XE274 with 1.6 ratio rockers and reuse my ported World Products Sportsman II heads. I think 310 to 330 RWHP is a good target. Granted, I want more but I'm deciding whether or not to just go with an LS1. We'll see what kind of mileage I get before I switch to a bigger (solid lifter) cam.
