Degreasing an engine - dumb question
As one of my winter project I want to clean all the gunk and crud off my engine. I've read on this forum about using Simple Green or Orange Crush as a degreaser. Once it is sprayed on what do you guys do to keep the runoff from contaminating everything? My garage floor is epoxied (Rustoleum) so I'm not worried about it. But I have a new concrete driveway and would hate to have that crap staining it and also leaving puddles which could be tracked into the house (not good for marital bliss).
I guess on alternative is to park it on the street when I do it, and let it flush into the sewer but I don't think the EPA would be happy.

Car wash. I would not use Simple Green if you have alum parts, it is high in alkyloids (think that was it  ) and when I used it, it left a crust on my alum intake where I did not get every little trace of it off.

Meant spray car wash; spray on, powerwash off. I usually don't use the high pressure setting just what comes oout without squeezing the handle. :yesnod: Take my big greasy parts down there too.

Take a pair of ramps to a do-it-yourself car wash in the middle of the night, and have fun. It's a dirty job, so remember to take some clean clothes and underwear, and a towel--you don't want to mess up the interior of your baby... :jester:

Not a dumb Question. I used a kiddy pool to catch the run off and also put newspapers on the floor. The pools maybe out of season now. Put it up on jack stands with tires removed. The stands will have to be located behind the front wheel on the frame. Be safe. Make sure the car is secure when doing this.

OK, but what should I use to clean the engine bay and beneath the floor pan to remove the power steering fluid, etc. that blew onto everything from front to rear? Have pressure washer but car in on stands being disassembled. Suggestions.
