Question on wiper motor, help!!
Trying to figure out way the wipers won't work. All power and connections are fine. So I removed the wiper motor and transmission. It doesn't seem to want to rotate. Tried jumping to the + and - with a external battery, still no movment. Removed the motor from the Trans assy. and the armature spins free, but when it is reconnected to the trans the worm gear won't spin.
Am I missing something here, or should I assume that it is fried and should be replaced?
Is there another way of testing this before I spend the $$$ for a new assy?

Most wiper problems are ground related. Since you are bench testing I assume that you are grounding it. Another thing to consider is that on some units the mag switch is open until set by the wiper switch. This would cut off the power to the motor, even with the red wire hooked up. That is unless you are going around that by putting power on the wire to the motor itself.
