I'm looking to upgrade the oiling system on the 75... that and the pan holds about a quart less due to a golly whopper of a ding (ok so the whole bottom is smashed in... to the point of wondering how it doesnt leak from a crease... at least somewhere!)
I'd like to keep it very budget, but have the ability to make a U-turn an keep oil on the sump. Well ok, I'd love to set it up for corner carving and acceleration... just cheaply.
I've read that the stock preasure pump is just fine for most applications, so I'm thinking a blueprinted stock preasure... but I've also heard that the Z28 style pump is the way to go. On our car's did they recieve a high perf pump from the factory? Or do ours contain the same stuff as a caprice of the same year?
That said, I'll prolly go with the over kill route: Melling Z28 pump... but that still leaves the oil pan! Is it true that ours have a different shape in order to clear the steering? If so whats an step above stock when it comes to replacements?
Well now, if that's really true you'd be thinking of hammering out the dented pan. A good ball-peen or body hammer and a coat of paint would fix it right up...... ;)

Well... if it says anything I woulda already done it... but even to my eyes its to beat up to pound it back out!
So what brands etc do you guys trust/run?
Moroso or Milodon are both a good choice. If $ was a big deal, then Stef's of Canton would be next my choice ;) . I see you found the oilpan topic in the Engine Mod section :)
Summit sells a pan that's almost a dead-ringer for the stock pan. I don't know if it has baffles or not. I'm not sure if you have an L82 but if you do and the replacement pans has a baffle built in then you might need to remove the L82 baffle that is mounted to the main caps.
If you think the oil pump is bad then now's the time to replace it. Get a one piece gasket for the pan - sure is a lot easier to install than the 4 piece set.
Almost forgot. While you are down there replace the rear main seal - cheap and easy to do.
Yup I found the oil pan topic... but the search tool didnt!
Thanks for the recomendations...
The block is from an L48, So's the car but the engine wont be for long!
I'm thinking about the milodon hamburger style... or a stock replacement, I cant figger which would work best for a basic rebuild + heads/cam/headers... I would love to be able to pull some g's in the corners (Note: Ok so it may not be a g... but enough to get the butt sliding :jester )
So far I'm leaning more towards stock replacement, but the baffles... alas, parts books and I dont go well! I'll drool in em till the day comes to order, then stall and perfect everything
