I just got my console sides back from the upholsterer. Soon after getting this car I decided some of the carpet had to go. I never felt the carpeted panels has a finsihed look. Other places losing carpet will be the kick panels which I will just dye and perhaps the backs of the seats. What do you think?
I have a new console plate and will be tearing out the dash to replace the heater core this winter so this will all be assembled nicely when the seats come out and the new rug goes in.
Looks good. I have thought the same thing about removing the carpet on the tranny tunnel. My interior is red as well, so it was nice to see how yours came out. what do you use as a cover, vinyl, leather, etc? How much did it cost you? Shoot me an email if you can, especially if you have some more pics showing the panels closer up or just any other info. vethead@whidbey.net
After seeing yours, I definitely can see doing it on mine.
I think I'm going this route also. I do not like the carpet, 70's look. How much should I budget? Also, what happened to your e-brake cover. It looks like it didn't go back on right.
My console panels were beat so I went down to the local plastic guy and had him cut me two new ones from textured black plastic like my interior. The kick panel carpet got stripped too.
I bought new panels from the catalog after breaking one of mine. Alocal upholstery shop to covered them. The material is colored vinyl. He matched it up for texture and color out of a catalog. $20 material (because we had to order it) and $30 labor.
