Hey Neighbors...have any of you had dealings with or visited a dealer called Corvette Collection on Lincoln Hgwy in Plainfield?? They have a '70 454 Survivor on Ebay I'd like to check out (just for fun). From the ebay pics, it looks like they have a whole bunch of C-3's on the lot. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6168
Thanks...See ya on the road :D :D

Never dealt with them but they DO have a nice selection of Vettes. Saw a 1969 427 that looks pretty nice and is fairly reasonable. Up by my house we have Corvette City in Highland Park. Never been there either. http://www.corvettecollection.com
is the website where that 454 is located.
1969 CHEVROLET CORVETTE GOLD w/ BLACK int. 8 CYLINDER 90,000mi. 4 SPD., 427/435HP, L-71, 4spd, coupe in Gold with original black interior. This is the last of the high horse monsters. Come invest in a Corvette! $29,900 Stock No. C6990 (GREG CANTU 815 436-4333)
That's not a bad deal for a Vette with that engine!
Of course, I am only going by what I see in the pics.
sray454: just window shopping Mike!!!
Dep: Been to Vette city many times...again, just window shopping. V-City wants top dollar for everything from cars, to parts, to service.
See ya on the road

I dunno, I look at these 'vette sellers, and figure that they're probably gouging the hell out of people who just fall in love with a 'vette.
I've never been to one of these sellers, but have seen some of their lots as I drove by. I would guess that we, as current 'vette owners might be shocked at some of prices they would charge, and they probably would under-bid on trade ins. But ever since Corvette Restoration in Lake Zurich overcharged me, the glass is always half empty for me. I personally would rather buy a 'vette from a guy who has a tear in his eye whenever he thinks about finally letting her go, 'cause he's forced to sell her, compared to a business that makes its living on freshening up old, used 'vettes, and selling them to make a profit.
So, for me, I wont deal with "vette specialists" or "vette dealerships". To me they have more negative associated with them than positive.
But then again, I hate people.
'75 383 ElkGrove: Geez...that wasn't my experience at all! I bought my '72 AND my '98 from dealers. '72 came from Pro Team and I bought it without even taking out to drive. Strictly from what was shown on their online ad.
I was VERY happy with what I got and would buy from them in a heartbeat.
Actualy, I would be much more worried about a private party selling me a Vette. They offer no purchasing guarantee (Pro Team DOES) and many times they are unloading something that a dealer won't touch. That tear can also be a tear of joy that he dumped a loser ;)

Yeah, I guess the guarentees and service are good things. I'll admit it, I may have been too hasty in slamming the 'vette sellers. I have had no experience with any of them, so it really isn't fair of me to generalize and voice my general distrust.
As fate would have it, I fell in love with my 'vette, and did pay about $1500 more for her than I should have. And this was from a private seller who lived 2 blocks away from me. I was finding bubba-ized fixes for the first two months also, so in that case, you're right, private sellers probably are not as good as a dealer who has to rely on reputation.
I since have wizened up a teeny bit, and my next purchase, hopefully, we be decided by logic, not emotion.
i saw a nice silver ann., at corvette collection a few years back------- it had 15,000 miles and i remember they wanted $15,000-- i think there more reasonable tha at D&M corvette on ogden ave-- there real high on parts -service and on there cars-<img src=" http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/sha...hassis1b2.jpg" border=0>
