Of course I voted for 73. Last year for that body style before the rubber bumper which is rounder, and still has some chrome. Upgraded chassis mounts, increase of sound-deadening material, steel-guard-beam doors.
These are minnor changes, but nothing that radical as for as body appearence and style.
Edit my spelling:confused:

best body styling, but some updates the 68 doesn't have and no one off parts on it. IMO it's just the sweetest C3 out there but if I could get a 68 I'd take it too,.. hell I'd take any up to 72.
From: WANTED: '68 rear valance with b/u light assemblies IM, e-mail, or PM me here. Thanks!
Re: C# CHALLENGE!!!!!!!!! (l2vette)
I had to go with the 70 just cause of the # built and pre-EPA crack down. Truth is, you can't go wrong with any 68-70 C3. They are all booming right now. I happen to prefer the 68 and 9s cause of the gills.
my vote is for the 68,just because of it's uniqueness.
the key on the dash
the reverse light's
just to mention a few,but that is what makes this year special

Very simply: The only year you could get a "Stingray" with the famed 427. Engine options play a huge role: last year for Tripower, and you could get L88 and L89, not to mention the great new enlarged smallblock.
It offered (with the '68) the cleanest styling -- without the fender flares, which many felt was a little too boy-racer...and it has the association with the great cars of the '60s, instead of the decade of automotive emasculation. '72 starts getting revised SAE HP figures, which always hurts values.
If the '68 had "Stingray" written on the side, then it would rival, but '69 is where the votes will be.
Not true! There are subtle differences for many of them that make them unique, such as:
'68 is the only non Stingray (plus a bunch of unique traits like "Basketweave" seats instead of "Comfortweave.")
'69 is the only Stingray with the vertical shark fins
'74 is the only year for the "split" rear panel
And if I weren't sleep deprived with the new baby, I could probably think of a few other items.
Tough call between 68-69-70 and -73, but I suppose it is going to be -68. Same way as -67 is in C2. It has many unique things which has already been mentioned: key in dash, reverse lights, door locks, no stingray emblems etc. Not to forget the great engines... But that's just my opinion and we can't see that one until late C3's are about 30 years old... Maybe -82 will be then higly appreciated???
I'm surprised to see the '73s doing so well! I thought I was the only one who appreciated this unique year. The things I like? You can still be legal with no catalytic converter & true duals & also the stock cowl induction hood are a couple. I also think that the extended front end and the kamm style rear is the best overall combination. I've always felt that the chrome bumper sharks look too short in the front and the rubber bumper years look to long in the rear. The 73 is just right.
I just wish someone made a custom rear for the '73s that eliminated the bumpers and that retained the kamm style and that smoothed out all the seams and bumps that were under the bumpers. I've seen the old Ecklers version and I just don't think they blended things out quite right. I guess I'll just have to create one myself. Unfortunately I'm totally ignorant about custom bodywork - I just know what I like. :cry
73 is still the only 1 of a kind year

Not completely right, but the intent was there :D
The 73 is 1/2 way between a 72 and a 74 with 1/2 a chrome bumper :smash:
But the 68 and the 69 both have vertical gills.
The 68 and 78+ were not badged Stingray
No one can tell the difference between a 75, 76 and 77 tho :jester
