I just bought a pair of dart pro1 al. heads with 200cc intake runners and 64cc combustion chambers. My current cam is a crane 278h-10 coupled with crane 1.6 full roller rockers giving 498 lift on intake&exhaust and 224 degrees duration @ .50. My 76' vette is a 4-speed with a 3:36 rear, msd pro billet distributor,( 36 dgs. in at 2800) blaster 2 coil and 6al box. I am running a 70' LT1 al. high rise duel plane intake with a holley 750 duel feed carb and a 14x3 k&n filter with k&n extreme airflow top.Currently my heads are camel hump 462's (1.94/1.50 valves) with 4 eyebrow flat tops.My exhaust is true duels (2.25in.) with h pipe. Will this engine combo and cam bring out the potential of the dart heads? thanx wade
Dart Pro-1's are an exellent set of heads. One of the best heads on the market right now for overall torque and HP.
Your Crane cam is a good choice with those heads. But I think your intake will be restrictive. The Lt-1 intake is a very good dual plane intake but I think something like a Edelbrock 2925 single plane would really allow with those heads to breathe, along with a good set of small tube 1 5/8" headers would make a great balance betweeen torque and power.
You could probably run a little more cam to take full advantage of the Dart heads, but what you have should run pretty darned good! Your low end torque might suffer a little, but it ought to scream on the upper end of the curve.
:iagree: Those heads will flow real good in the upper rpm. Slightly larger cam will allow it to rpm a little more. Pretty good combo with what you have
