Hey I am a newbie to the Corvette forum. I am a freshmen at The University of Cincinnati. My dad has a 1969 Corvette that he bought in 1977. Unfortunately he isn't in to cars too much. I am on the other hand! His car is a 1969 Lemans blue convertible. The motor is the base 350/300 with a TH400 transmission. New interior, suspension, exhaust, power steering, alternator, rebuilt Q-jet, all new brakes. The car is all original otherwise with matching numbers all around. The car has 112,000 miles on it. Perfect frame. I look forward to helping him with the forums advice! My personal car is a 1993 Mustang 5.0, 5 speed, all original ( I know its not Chevy, but i couldnt afford a Vette!)
Kyle
P.S. Rare features on the Vette are factory A/C, Speed warning, Power steering, but no power brakes.
I think you should swap your Muzzie for the Vette, though....just tell your Dad the Muzzie's a much better car...since he's not into cars he won't know you're lying :)
Welcome. Work hard in college, get a good job, and learn to save at least 15% what you make each year, and you'll wake up one day with enough money to buy all the Vettes you want.
In the meantime, the most important thing you can do is make sure your dad holds on to the '69. Make sure he lets you drive it when you're home from school. Sharing cars with your kids is the most fun thing in the world, and I can't wait when my girls are old enough to drive.

OH REALY???? Sammy, Sammy, Sammy. Your that anxious to stand at the open garage door, and watch all you hard work time and money back down the driveway with a smiling teen at the wheel? As you turn away to enter the house, you hear the tires chirp and the engine roar as your car goes flying down the street. Driver and passenger alike, waving at every boy at every stoplight, as no race challenge goes ignored. Hormone raging jealous boys leaning or sitting on that expensive paint job in the mall parking lot, as they beg to let them drive it. McDonalds wrappers and spilled milk shakes all over that new carpet you just installed. Dings and nicks from the crowded "front row" parking spot they just had to have...just so they could be seen.
I'm not saying they will be careless....but just being teenagers.
Eddie (has a 17yr old son)
Your situation sounds like the reverse of mine; I can't get my son, daughter, or wife to take any interest in my Corvette
Keep offering to help your dad with the car, he may come around someday. Maybe he'd be up for a father/son Bloomington/Carlisle/Bowling Green trip one year. That may give him "the fever".
Welcome to the forum from a fellow Ohioan.Your dad's car sounds like a pretty cool car.Good luck in school and work hard.My son will hopefully will be going to UC law school next year.
Welcome LemansBlueStingray! Wish my pop would have had such a cool Vette around when I was growing up. Mine didn't like cars either. All he had was a Cessna aircraft to play with. Oh well.
And even if you do own one of them ..umm Ferds, we will still let you post on Tuesdays and Thursdays when theres a full moon.
Hey Dawg! I own a Ferd too. I thank God for my T-bird everyday because it if was not for the T-bird we probably would not have our Vettes.
Oh, and LemansBlueStingray, take Desertdawg's advice and DON'T listen to CF member BGRICE, because he WILL get you in trouble.
:nono:
Hello and welcome to the forum! I am also a college student and I am from Dayton Ohio as well. I go to school at the University of Dayton though so I can be close to my baby :D
Where are do you live in the Dayton area? I live in Huber Heights. Let me know if you want to get together and talk vettes sometime. :seeya
