Can anybody recommend a front shock that costs under $30? I plan on buying Carrera or Pro shocks for all 4 corners some day, but for now I'm putting the money elsewhere. I rebuilt my front end while the motor was out and am not going to put the leaky old shocks back on. So...does anybody here run Gabriel or Delco? If so which ones. Thanks guys
I bought the cheapest set of gas shocks I could find at the local parts store for the front and air shocks for rear (got tired of my pipes scraping/banging) and the ride is actually pretty nice, even got some compliments. My rear springs needs replacing and at the time I bought the shocks I was uncertain whether to go steel or composite, still am actually.
There is a guy selling new Delco gas shocks on ebay for $100 a set. Do a search and check out his feedback, $100 sounds like a deal to me.

I've had KYBs on my 74 for a while, probably about 12 to 14 years and they work great. No leaks and they give a nice controlled ride. The only problem I've had is a little more bounciness in the rear with the fiberglass spring but that's pretty common with that setup. VB&P now has specially valved KYBs for the rear to fix that problem. All in all I think they are a good bargain.
Several years ago I installed new Monroe matics on my 74 while I was doing so other major projects on the car, before I ever drove the car I changed to a fiberglass spring and switched to Monroe gas matics. I "think" I still have the Monroe matic somewhere in the garage. You can have them for free, if you want them, just pay for the shipping. Let me know.
Just put these one $35 each. I haven't driven them too hard yet, but very big difference over the original, completely dead stock ones. (easily compressed, zero rebound)
