Default L-88 airbox setup help

I have a L-88 style hood and was wondering about changing over to the true style with the box and special air cleaner base. Has anyone done this and what type of intake do I need to have. My intake now is a GM Aluminum dual plane style. Thanks for the info!

It should work fine as long as it's not a hi-rise. The L-88 dropbase works with almost any 5-1/8" carb and is perfect on the 850DP. The air chamber will mate to a 1" thick foam seal ring that comes as part of the breather assembly. That allows for some misfit on height.

You should be good to go.

Don't know how much taller a big block is but FWIW a small block with a RPM manifold, Holley 4150 and a 1" spacer is perfect.......
