... or be like me and sell them after 2 weeks and go back to true duals.
Why?
I had the 69 style and got a few burns before I put the covers on, my wife is not as mobile (hit by a drunk and had vertibrae sheared off her spine and every rib broken in a minimum of 2) so I was worried that her foot would slide under the sidepipe and cover on getting out - she lives with enough pain on a daily basis no need for more. Also they were just too loud at my ear level with an awful drone right at the 60 - 68 mph - that made the car sound hollow and whimpy. I like the Ultraflows much better.
Sound hollow and wimpy? Well that's the first time I've ever heard that about sidepipes. Mine sounds like a race car.
But rear exit exhaust would probably make better power if done right. You could add an X-pipe crossover, make it the ideal size for max torque, and with a pair of Flowmasters, would sound extremely good. They won't have the visual impact of side exhausts, but would be a bit more user friendly.
I thought about rear exhaust, but the cost for a custom mandrel-bent set would have exceeded the cost of the better-looking sidepipes.
I reserve the right to change my mind down the road, but for now, I like the side pipes. Scraping the burned skin off my sidepipe was gross though.
