7 leaf springs are only $85 new at Muskegon, so will there be any issues going from the stock non-gymkhana 9 leaf spring on my '74 to a 7 leaf? (any other parts required?)
Also figued the 7-leaf spring might be beneficial to the car with the weight of the big block.
Re: Are 7 and 9 leaf springs interchangable? (sammyb)
There's a difference in widths after a certain point. I believe that '78-'82 used a wider spring than earlier years. Other than that, everything should be okay.
Re: Are 7 and 9 leaf springs interchangable? (sammyb)
I swapped the 9 leaf for a 7 on my '77; no problems or surprises.
While I've had no problems with my 7 leaf spring (and I ddidn't notice a big difference in ride), I wish I had sprung (stoopid pun intended  ) for the extra bucks and put in a composite spring.

Just ordered the 7-leafer from Muskegon for $85. Don't know how long this car is going to stay with me, so I'm not going to spring for the composite leaf.
