Default LS6 ??

I have an opportunity to buy, by cast numbers, LS6 heads and a four bolt 454. This would be replacing the SB in the 77. I can not find much info
regarding the LS6 (probably looking in the wrong places). Anyway, any input would be appreciated.
Also, beyond cooling, front suspension, hood, what are the major modifications required? The 77 is four speed.
Thanks

The LS6 454 had 7/16 rods, rectangular heads, solid cam, 4 bolt mains, steel crank and came in up to 465 horse and 11.1 compression.

You would need to shave some lead from your right foot or injury could occur.

Thanks for the info so far. This may be a good deal or no......value not established or set yet. The deal would be through a friend who is liquidating the estate of yet another (deceased) friend. Don't want to screw anybody but, then again, would not want to pay a premium. Are these components
in great demand...anybody got a feel?

If the heads are LS6 ones I would imagine there is a market for them since they are somewhat rare. Might pick em just to resell. I am not familiar with the flow numbers but they may not be any better than a good aftermarket head that might cost less. Sometimes I think people get caught up in the mystique of LS6/L88/LT1 etc and don't look at the raw data, if they don't flow as well and cost you more than a good aftermarket head then what good are they except for a factory correct resto?

Thanks to all for the information, and opinions. Think I will stick with the SB as this could prove $. I suffer enough downtime as is.

Don't get me wrong, if it is a good deal jump on em but do your homework on what they are worth and if they are worth using in a build when compared $ for $ with an aftermarket head. Being an LS6 I would imagine they flow pretty good.
