WOW! No heat crossover and VERY tall! Pretty neat!
Never saw one for a big block though. You ughhh...you don't happen to HAVE one in minty-new condition for sale do you? ;)
Hey...I got an "off topic" question. I got my M/T aluminum valve covers. They are in good shape with no cracks. I've been polishing them with Flitz but having only fair results. Some discoloration I can't get out no matte how hard I rub. Is there an aluminum polish that is super powerful that doesn't require a ton of rubbing? Something like that liquid they dip jewelry in that instantly polishes it. Dng stuff doesn't work on aluminum or I'd be out buying it tonight!
while we're on manifolds, how about a Holley Strip Dominator?

I would get some 600-1000 grit paper or some fine emory cloth, use it with some very fine oil, like 3 in 1. Then use rubbing compound to shine it
Seems someone on this forum said there was not an aftermarket aluminum intake for a '71 LS-5. Time to learn a little more about the 454's. What are the heads on a '71 454...oval or rectangular port? These are the numbers I found.
The Tarantula manifolds were some of the best intake manifolds that were ever made... I use the TM-1 (Tarantula Manifold-1) on my '68..
The difference between the TM-1 (or TM-2 etc) and the original Torker manifolds is the size of the runners.. The TM's have larger runners and a higher RPM range...
bgrice: I have the LS-5 in my '72. It is round port, NOT rectangular. The 1971 454 had TWO types of heads...round on the 365 horse hydraulic lifter version (LS-5), and square on the 425 HP solid lifter version. The LS-6 also had ALUMINUM heads. I am switching to rectangular port aluminum heads, so that's why I'm getting a rectangular port manifold :)
The manifold that came on the LS-6 was a rectangular port LOW RISE aluminum manifold.
It DOES fit under the BB Vette hood though. Nothing really wrong with this manifold other than it doesn't breath quite as well as a high rise. But that would mainly be noticeable at top end. I have one that is in minty condition but I'll tell you right now they are pretty scace/rare and do NOT sell cheap.
Mark: Glad you feel better. ;)
There is another manifold thread starting if you guys want to check out "the action" there. Hehehe :D
